When the going gets tough communities pull together - we all do our bit. There are some wonderful people out there doing some great things for their communities and we’ll be putting a spotlight on these local heroes.

Our friends over at Gorilla Spirits Co. have teamed up with Alton & Basingstoke Food Banks to provide a free donation collection service, making it easier than ever to help get food to those in need.

The team explained they got involved because they are aware of the demand for food banks, especially at the moment with the current social-distancing restrictions in place.

Gorilla Spirits Co. said: “The people we deliver to are of course enormously thankful and it’s great, as well as sad, to see young children greet our delivery team as if it were Christmas.”

Currently, the team are out collecting donations three times a week but are ready to increase this to meet the demand in their community.

In these strange times businesses are adapting the way they work to serve their communities. Gorilla Spirits, usually known for their craft alcohol has started producing hand sanitiser for their local GP surgery. So far, they have made and delivered over a thousand bottles.

So, whilst you’re at home why not rummage through your cupboards and put aside anything that you are unlikely to use. From tins and jars to dried food and essentials. You could even pop a few extra bits in your bag during your next shop for the team at Gorilla Spirits to collect if you're local to the area.

All you need to do is email the team at [email protected] and they’ll let you know when they can swing by. No face to face contact is needed, just leave a note on your donation and pop it on your doorstep.

And if you don't live locally, why not take a look at how you can get involved with supporting a food bank near you.

Much love,

Pub in the Park x
