Doing a weekly shop at the moment is tricky, and for some not possible at all. That’s where Weston Biltong are stepping in. Usually known for their impressive selection of biltong the Cheshire based family run business have found a way to help their neighbours through these hard times.

“Not knowing what would happen to our small business in the near future we felt that we needed to have something to focus on and also knew that people within the community were going to need help.”

Their rural community has a large elderly population, with current government lock down measures in place the business felt compelled to support their over 70’s and vulnerable. They set up a Whatsapp group and began rallying local volunteers. To spread word about the help they were able to offer the volunteers distributed over 400 letters to residents.

Over that past 4 weeks Weston Biltong and their mini army of volunteers have picked up and delivered shopping, medicine, dog food and any other essentials their community need. As volunteer numbers have increased, they’ve been able to offer more invaluable services. From calling those who need to hear a friendly voice to delivering newsletters to keep their community informed.

Sheryl from Weston Biltong said: “as a group we continue to grow and add ways we can help … we have an amazing community within our village and one that we want to preserve for as long as we possibly can.”
