If you’re a foodie, what better way to spend a day than tasting your way around a food festival? Tom Kerridge’s Pub in the Park celebrates everything there is to love about British pubs. Both Chiswick & St Albans will be filled with award-winning pubs & restaurants – from local favourites to nationally renowned eateries that are often hard to get into – which will be transformed into pop-ups serving taster-sized dishes to show off what each spot does best. Here's our partner SheerLuxe's pick of the pubs…

CHISWICK

BAR KROKETA

Bar Kroketa is new bar concept from the team behind Spanish restaurant group Tapas Brindisa which brings Spanish bar culture to Carnaby. Naturally, croqueta is its signature dish, with blackboards which list a frequently changing selection of small plates and drinks, including crab and alioli toasties.

The dish: Croquetas de gambas.

CUE POINT

An Afghan BBQ joint in Chiswick, Cue Point merges the founders’ British heritage, diverse backgrounds and personal experiences of growing up in London. The result is an all-inclusive, multi-sensory BBQ experience that focuses on ‘nacos’, a fusion-filled bun.

The dish: Oak-smoked brisket naco.

THE HAND & FLOWERS

Pub in the Park host Tom Kerridge’s flagship restaurant The Hand & Flowers is the only pub in the UK to hold two Michelin stars. Pub classics are elevated to new heights with bold flavours and beautiful presentation, and all the food is made with produce from independent butchers, fishmongers and vegetable suppliers.

The dish: Smoked cheddar, BBQ bourbon & jalapeno burger.

ATUL KOCHHAR RESTAURANTS

Atul Kocchar is the multi-Michelin-starred man behind a raft of much-loved Indian restaurants in London and beyond, including Kanishka, Indian Essence and Sindhu – the latter of which can be found in Marlow, close to Tom Kerridge’s Hand & Flowers.

The dish: Chicken tikka pie

CUBITT HOUSE GROUP

Now headed up by top chef Ben Tish, Cubitt House Group looks after some of the best pubs in London – think The Barley Mow, The Princess Royal, The Alfred Tennyson and The Coach Makers Arms. Combining great design with noteworthy food, these are the modern boozers to know.

The dish: Slow-roast salt marsh lamb bun with mustard pickles.

ST ALBANS

DYLANS AT THE KINGS ARMS

Local boozer Dylans at The Kings Arms is housed in a beautiful 15th-century building on George Street in the Cathedral Quarter of St Albans. Named in honour of owner Sean’s dog, this is a popular local gastropub that focuses on produce from small UK producers.

The dish: Smoked ham hock & parmesan croquette.

The dish: Korean glazed pork belly bao.

HOPPERS

An award-winning South Asian spot from the Sethi family, who also run Trishna and Gymkhana, Hoppers is one of the very best exclusively Sri Lankan restaurants in London. Named after one of Sri Lanka’s popular dishes, egg-topped pancakes, Hoppers offers an authentic menu that’s brimming with flavour.

The dish: Curried mutton & potato breaded rolls with spiced ketchup.

THE BULL & LAST

Joe Swiers and Ollie Pudney took over the Bull & Last in Highgate in the noughties and turned it into a cracking north London pub. It’s still going strong today – and serves up some of the very best scotch eggs you’ll ever taste.

The dish: Fish pie croquette with tartare sauce & lemon.
