Nick Deverell-Smith has an impressive career under his belt. Having trained under some of the leading chefs in the industry, including Marco Pierre White, Eric Chavot and Gordon Ramsay, before becoming Head Chef of Dean Street Town House in London Nick is an exciting talent!

His pub The Churchill Arms Paxford, an Idyllic 17th century watering hole set in the Cotswolds, is a Pub in the Pub favourite.

We caught up to pick his brains about Crimbo!


What are you most looking forward to about Christmas?

This year it's my baby boy, Raffy’s, first Christmas so I am excited to be at home for Christmas Day for the first time in many years. 


If you could only eat 3 Christmas foods for the rest of your life, what would you pick?

Pigs in blankets, mince pies & the toffee pennies in the Quality Street.


What’s your favourite Christmas memory?

Last year on Christmas Day my fiancé Emma told me she was pregnant... that was very special!


What’s your best tip for Christmas leftovers?

I think the best way to enjoy the leftovers is to do a sharing feast the following day. A nice cold cuts meat board, lots of nice pickles, breads, cheeses & chutneys. 

Sprouse up the sprouts by slicing them into some cream with cranberries, chestnuts, nutmeg, orange and reducing that down to make creamed Christmas sprouts. Finish of the bottle of sherry!


What song is the soundtrack to your Christmas and why?

It has to be The Pogues, Fairytale of New York! It's a belter!
