Diners at The Cross at Kenilworth enjoy the relaxed setting of a popular village pub but with the

culinary finesse of a Michelin starred and professionally trained chef, Adam Bennett.

The pub was taken over by celebrated Midland’s restaurateur Andreas Antona in the summer of 2013, a major refurbishment followed which restored some of the 19th century inn’s original features and created a relaxing and stylish dining space.

Within one year of its reopening, the team at The Cross had secured a Michelin star, one of only 14 awarded to new restaurants in 2014 and one that it maintains today.

Prior to taking over the kitchen at The Cross, Chef director, Adam Bennett, spent ten years working for Andreas at Simpsons in Edgbaston having previously worked in London’s top kitchens. He is passionate about food and takes inspiration from many sources.

Adam wanted to become a chef from an early age and during his college training spent time working in a busy family-run Hotel Restaurant in Bavaria, Germany. This gave the nineteen-year-old Adam a fantastic grounding for his future career. He went on to work at The Dorchester Hotel London under Anton Mosimann, Restaurant Marc Meurin in Bethune, France, and Restaurant Guy Lassausaie in Lyon - all two-star Michelin.

He uses techniques from many years spent in fine dining and creates dishes that are fitting for The Cross’ relaxed and accessible pub feel. Passionate about food, flavours and provenance, Adam’s
outstanding culinary skills elevate each ingredient to produce robust and perfectly balanced dishes and flavours.
