Environmental Sustainability Policy Statement

Pub in the Park aims to conduct our activities and operations to reflect best environmental and sustainability practice and seek innovative ways of meeting environmental objectives through a commitment to continual improvement.

These include:

To meet and, where appropriate exceed all relevant UK, European and international legislative and regulatory requirements and agreements.
To review all our activities and operations in order to identify, understand and evaluate all the direct and indirect environmental aspects and effects, and prioritise action to address them.
To reduce energy and resource consumption.
To influence our suppliers to support sustainable practices.
To raise awareness of environmentally responsible practices.
To prevent pollution.
To prevent unnecessary and avoidable travel.
To avoid the use of toxic materials wherever possible.
To consider the sustainability issues behind all our actions, taking into consideration not just the environmental and economic effects, but the social and ethical implications in equal measure.

We aim to achieve these objectives by making incremental changes to the way we operate, through education and training of our staff and the general public and by developing a long term strategic plan to reduce our environmental impact.

Raw Materials

In our choice of raw materials we will:

Always choose the most sustainable option possible within the budget
Utilise reused/repurposed materials and recycled materials wherever possible
Where virgin materials are required, use materials from sustainable sources and with lower environmental impact (e.g. FSC certified timber, sustainably sourced fabrics, low VOC paints)
Ensure that all materials used are recyclable where possible, in standard local collection & recycling systems
We will always look into the sustainability of our supply chain and ask questions of our suppliers about the ethical/sustainable credentials of their products.

Waste Reduction & Recycling

As well as planning for the implementation of projects, we will also plan for the decommissioning of the project by:

Always looking to use durable materials which will not end up as waste after a single use
Utilising durable hire materials for construction where appropriate
Extending the life of the items and materials from project, working within the principle of the ‘Circular Economy’
Reusing and repurposing items and materials from the project in an imaginative and creative way wherever possible
Storing and reusing items over multiple events
Constructing items so that they may be easily disassembled after use into their constituent materials
Working to identify suitable facilities and collection methods so that all end-of-life materials and construction wastes are recycled wherever possible.
Identifying other users for unwanted materials that are still usable

Reduced Carbon Footprint and Energy Efficiency

To reduce the Carbon Footprint of our operations, we will:

Utilise local suppliers and local storage wherever possible, to reduce the Carbon Footprint of transport
Utilise recycled materials, reducing the Carbon Footprint of manufacture
Use energy saving electrical technology such as LED lighting, dawn to dusk sensors, passive motion sensors and timers, to reduce energy consumption
Look at the efficiency our temporary power supplies, matching supply accurately with demand and reducing generator runtimes
Investigate the use of renewable technologies such as solar and battery power, to reduce reliance on diesel generators in our outdoor projects
Train our on-site production crew in eco-friendly driving techniques and efficient use of plant
