Hoppers

Hoppers takes inspiration from the home cooking and roadside stalls of Sri Lanka and South India, serving Hoppers, Dosas, Kothu, Short Eats, Rice and Roasts.

The toddy shop-inspired Hoppers Soho was established by JKS Restaurants in October 2015, the first Sri Lankan restaurant of its kind in Central London. Following on from the success of this, a second Hoppers at Marylebone’s _St. Christopher’s Place, themed around the iconic Tropical Modernist movement of the late Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, opened its doors in September 2017. Then, in February 2020, the third and largest of the three restaurants in the heart of King’s Cross opened with a concept that follows the much-travelled coastal journey from Colombo, the islands capital, to the historical Dutch town of Galle.

Five years on from the opening of Hoppers Soho, an online and in-store retail platform was created, and the launch of Hoppers Cash & Kari took place in October 2020. A Sri Lankan ‘corner shop’ for modern times, the Cash & Kari store brings the flavours and spirt of Hoppers offering meal kits, restaurant-blend curry powders, Sri Lankan spices, ready-to-drink cocktails, and Hoppers’ own-brew beers to homes nationwide.

Soho

Hoppers Soho is the first Hoppers site, inspired by the village toddy shops of Sri Lanka. The food offering focuses on Hoppers, Dosas, Kothus and Roasts, complimented by a tropical drinks list with Genever and Arrack at its heart.

The interior boasts warm terracotta tiles, a woven rattan ceiling, and traditional Raksha masks and Sri Lankan poster art lines the walls.

Hoppers Soho was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2016.

Marylebone

Hoppers Marylebone takes inspiration from the Tropical Modernist movement associated with the late Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa.

The menu features signature, much-loved Hoppers dishes, as well as larger sharing feasts and menus, while the expanded drinks list showcases cocktails created with ingredients inspired by the spice gardens of Sri Lanka.

Split across two floors, Hoppers Marylebone offers, al fresco outdoor dining and private dining vaults.

Kings Cross

The inspiration for Hoppers King’s Cross follows the much-travelled coastal journey from Colombo, the island’s capital, to the historical Dutch town of Galle.

Staying true to Hoppers’ philosophy of family style feasting, the menu will feature exclusive bar bites, seafood grills and beachside snacks together with an extended bar serving a selection of beers on tap, including two of Hoppers’ own brewed beers, sharing punches, swizzles and coolers.
